Toverlux
Toverlux was founded by two lifelong friends — Annefleur, rooted in the craft traditions of a storybook Dutch town, and Femke, a maker and problem-solver working from Amsterdam. Together they set out to create a family heirloom: a lamp that would grow alongside the families who owned it, marking the seasons, the celebrations and the quiet rituals of everyday life.
Handcrafted from FSC-certified birchwood, the Toverlux Lamp works with a growing collection of translucent silhouettes by artists from around the world. Each one tells a story that only reveals itself in light.

Toverlux Lamp | Dimmable Silhouette Lamp
Some objects become part of the rhythm of a family. The Toverlux Lamp is one of them. Handcrafted in the Netherlands from FSC-certified birchwood, this beautifully made lamp is designed not just to illuminate a room — but to slow it down, to mark the seasons, to make story time feel more magical and to grow alongside a family through years of cherished traditions.
At its heart, the Toverlux Lamp is a silhouette lamp — a warm LED light source designed to work with the Toverlux collection of 150+ hand-illustrated silhouettes, each one casting a gentle, glowing scene onto your wall or into your room. As your family grows, so does your silhouette collection — and with it, the stories you tell.
This sale is for the lamp only, silhouettes are sold separately.
Dimmable with a simple tap and hold, versatile enough to stand alone or mount on a wall, and powered via a universal USB outlet with a 5V plug, the Toverlux Lamp is as thoughtfully designed as it is beautiful. Measuring 27cm x 26cm x 10cm, it arrives in a cotton Toverlux gift bag with a USB plug included — ready to give, and ready to become part of your home.
For decorative indoor use. Not a toy.

Toverlux FAQ
What actually is the Toverlux lamp?
A lamp made of FSC-certified birch wood with a warm, dimmable LED inside and a slot in the front for a slide of art called a silhouette. The lamp stays the same. The silhouette you slide in — an autumn forest, a fairy who can't sleep, a hot-air balloon over a sleeping town — changes the entire scene it casts into the room. One lamp, and as many worlds as you have silhouettes. It measures 27 x 26 x 10 cm, so it anchors a shelf or bedside table without taking it over.
Does the light get hot?
No. It's an LED, which runs cool and sips power — one of the reasons it suits a child's room and a long evening. The birch wood stays comfortable to touch.
Is this a nightlight, or something more?
Both, and that's rather the point. On its lowest setting it's a gentle night light. Brighter, it's a warm bedside reading light. And with a silhouette in the slot it becomes a piece of art that changes the mood of the whole room. It's the rare children's object that works from the newborn nursery through to a twelve-year-old's shelf — the lamp stays, the silhouettes and seasons change around it.
Who makes the art?
The silhouettes are drawn by illustrators working in the Waldorf and nature-illustration tradition. The most requested is Daniela Drescher, a German artist whose gnomes, fairies and sandmen look painted from inside the story rather than observed from outside it. Also in the range is Elsa Beskow — the Swedish illustrator often called the Beatrix Potter of Scandinavia — whose Around the Year series runs to twelve images, one per month, and quietly becomes a year-long collection.
Can my child make their own art for the Toverlux Lamp?
Yes, and it's one of the loveliest things Toverlux makes. There's a pad of blank silhouette paper — twenty-five sheets, cut to fit the lamp's window — ready for watercolours, crayons or pencils. A child paints their own scene, slides it in, and falls asleep under their own artwork lit from behind. Not a print on the wall, not their drawing on a screen — the actual painting, glowing. We often wrap it alongside the lamp so the set arrives complete.
Can I see one before I buy?
Yes — and we'd encourage it. There's a lamp lit on the counter at Little Paper Planes in Mount Martha, and you're welcome to slide a silhouette in yourself and watch the room change. Most people understand the lamp in about four seconds once they've seen it lit. We're one of a small number of authorised Toverlux stockists in Australia, so what's on the shelf is the real thing, with the warranty and the genuine silhouette range behind it.
